1.) The citation style for my English program is MLA. Learning how to cite your work can be overwhelming. Some challenges I may face when using MLA format to cite my work would be keeping track of all the details. There are many rules and guidelines when citing your work. I am thankful there are resources to help make the experience easier. I am looking forward to getting started on Zotero to help me organize my work. I also need to keep in mind using italics properly.
Gathering information from different resources will help me gain a better idea on the topics I research. It will allow me to see how others have collected their information and how they came to certain conclusions. It will also allow me different perspectives on an array of topics. Research can also be helpful in finding articles that can help support my own arguments and points of view. Collecting research will help expand my knowledge and fill in any gaps that I may have missed in my own work.
Not quoting, citing, or referencing other’s research in your own academic work could be detrimental to your reputation. Not citing your work is considered plag iarism and it is not taken lightly. If you do not give credit where credit is due, you are essentially stealing someone else’s work, which is unfair to the original authors work. It can also appear as if you have more knowledge than you do, which can be misleading. That is why it is important to properly cite your work.

2.) Good evening class,
For my citation type, I will be utilizing the MLA format. As MLA is traditionally used to cite sources from language arts, cultural studies, and other humanities studies or disciplines I believe it will fit with my topic. As I am writing a paper on Blade Smithing there is not necessarily scholarly sources for modern art. One of the downsides of the MLA format is that it may take time to find the information that is required to properly sort sources. Since I may be forced to utilize unconventional sources such as journals or articles on Blade Smithing that most likely have not been peer-reviewed it may be challenging to construct MLA citations. Utilizing my research, I will be able to gain insight into the beginnings of how one learns the trade of blade smithing I will be able to gather information on different techniques that others have used and reference their experience in my own research. Since I am sure there will be a variety of experiences or methods for this subject, I will have a large variety of knowledge to draw from. Ethical concerns would arise if I were to not give the people who create these knowledge bases for me as it would be akin to me calling the work my own to not credit them with the discovery or the hard-earned experience. Not including citations is plagiarism and does not give the credit to the author where credit may be done. Hence plagiarism is one of the most severe violations of ethics in academia. 3.) I decided to research Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi because Spanish architecture is my favorite design style. I have a love for architecture and it just so happens that Spanish is my favorite. Antoni Gaudi was born in Catalonia, Spain on June 25, 1852 and lived until June 10, 1926. Gaudi’s most notable work is The Church of The Sagrada Family. It is interesting because the church was never fully finished, and they are still working on it to this day. Work stopped because of his sudden death. It is said that his vision for his work was formed by his love for his religion and nature, as well as medieval gothic works. Antoni Gaudi’s work is sometimes considered eccentric because it is such a distinguishable style, which I will post photos below. His personal features were often seen as Nordic, with blonde hair and blue eyes, but he was indeed Spanish and took great pride in it. Gaudi was also well known for his high class fashion and love for the finer side of society. It is noted that he wore only the best clothes and hats, but decided to wear second hand shoes because they were more comfortable than new. Researching Antoni Gaudi was interesting because now I know who built such a famous church that many tourists visit in Spain and its so cool that they are still trying to complete it!
4.) For this week’s assignment I chose Rochy RD. Also known as, “EL WAWAWA”. He’s a Dominican music artist from Boca Chica. His birth name is Aderly Ramírez Oviedo and he’s 31 years old. I chose Rochy because he had a huge impact on Hispanic culture in and out of Dominican Republic.
Rochy’s YouTube channel has 4,790,000 subscribers and 1,844,535,488 total views on YouTube. He has 42.2 million views in the past 30 days. Rochy and his music have had a huge impact on our society and people all over Dominican republic can be seen dancing to his music. In 9 Dec 2012, Rochy RD was arrested after getting caught selling internet in a food market. In a city full of poor, land-working people, internet prices were too high and Rochy was jailed for selling internet at a lower price to the people. He was sent to La Victoria prison where he went by the rap name “Mc Melody”. During his time there he focused on his music career and recorded multiple music videos within the prison. After being released he continued pursuing his music career under the name Rochy RD and is signed to the Sony Music Latin record label. In 2022 Rochy was jailed again, this time for an alleged sexual assault. When the people found out about his imprisonment, riots erupted all over the country. This shows the amount of support the people have for this artist. All in all, Rochy had a huge impact on Dominican Republic and Hispanic culture as a whole.
