Focus is on the Consulting and Assessment Division of a Leadership Development Practice of Individual AND Team Skill, with a focus on the interpersonal climate the leader creates when faced with “change” and “conflict” on the team. There are many ways to look at the leadership skills required to lead a team AND to be an effective member of a high-performing team.
However, the two most important skills for today’s organizational teams are the ability to adapt to change and manage conflict. Therefore, week 2 will provide you the opportunity to review two assessments. Please complete the Thomas Kilman Assessment. For the Change Style Indicator, review the content (the booklet in this week’s reading) and “guess” based on the behaviors described which style you exhibit.
Use both assessments for you to understand the kind of leader you are AND the climate you create as a leader of teams. Also, think about how you would use these assessments for leadership coaching or leadership training. You will use both of these assessments, along with the MBTI, as the basis of the Reflective Essay (2) due Sunday midnight week 2.
