final project for this class will consist of conducting an analysis utilizing the technique of autoethnography. As Cutforth (2013) states, “Autoethnography is a qualitative research method in which writers draw on their own experiences to connect the personal to the cultural context (Ellis & Bochner, 2000).” In part one of your paper, I would like you to describe what is meant by the concept of a sociological autoethnography. In part one, I would like you to describe C. Wright Mills’ conceptualization of the “sociological imagination.” In part 2, describe the key aspects of a “sociological autoethnography” and describe a private trouble experienced by persons in your community or neighborhood and how it relates to a larger public issue. This should not be a personal story or narrative but an opportunity for you to analyze how private experiences that you have observed in your community are linked to public issues (e.g., culture, social structure, and/or systems of inequality). Also, throughout your analysis in part two, you will be graded on how well you integrate the sociological concepts and theories from the MindTap readings and demonstrate through scholarly articles the extent of this public issue. In part 3, conclude your paper, describe the implications for future research, and the public policy implications.
