The Covid-19 pandemic has seen many businesses within Melbourne and throughout the world affected in different ways. Some businesses have prospered, while others have suffered devastating losses. Accounting reporting of these results informs us about such performance. News is often released via a company’s website (through their ‘news’ and/or ‘investor’ links), or reported in the mainstream media (such as in newspapers and via television networks).

Your task will be to write an article that compares the performance of two companies over the year 2020, in light of the pandemic. The allocation of companies is as follows:

Coles Supermarkets

Virgin Australia Airlines 

Woolworths Supermarkets

Qantas Airlines

You will find many news articles about these companies, so focus on those that report accounting related matters (for example, profits, losses, debt etc, rather than other things they have done).
