Include a title, your target publication, and words count in your heading.
Word count should be between 500-650 words.
Tips: Pick a topic of general interest or current public debate that would be a reasonable candidate for publication. There must be a compelling reason to publish. Be careful to conform to your target publication. The objective is to set your op-ed apart from the hundreds of other submissions under consideration for publication. Minimize the use of rhetorical questions. Focus on affirmative statements of your opinion. Avoid weighing your op-ed down with statistics. Use them sparingly. In certain circumstances, it may be acceptable to write in the first person singular.
