You are to write a short version of a “Choose-Your-Own-Adventure” novel. Your story must be at least 500 words long, but may be much longer (no upper limit on length).
Your story must offer at least 5 different points where the reader makes a choice on how to proceed and at least 3 different endings. At least one of the choices must have three or more options. (Again, there are no upper limits here. These are just minimums.)
Your story must be your own creative fiction writing. It should not be fan fiction or otherwise based on an existing storyline. You should not discuss this storyline with your classmates prior to completing your assignment (and are encouraged to do so once you have completed it).
Note that, by the conventions of the genre, you need to write in the second person. (“Second person” refers to the pronoun “you”, so this assignment itself is an example of something written in the second person.)
Your prompt is:
A survivor wants to expose the secret of a corrupted paradise but their community will reject them.*
You can write anything at all that you want to that fits that prompt and the instructions above.
If you don’t know what I mean by “a ‘Choose-Your-Own-Adventure’ novel”, here is an example (Links to an external site.) I found with a quick Google.
If you are finding it difficult to come up with a story based on this prompt, start by deciding on the specific elements of your story that are mentioned in the prompt. For instance: Who is your survivor? What have they survived? What is the secret they are going to expose? Why will the community reject the survivor for exposing the secret?
It will probably be easier for you to have as many endings as you do choice points, but that’s at your discretion.
