This lesson plan is for Special Education class
The purpose of this assignment is to analyze an existing lesson plans of your choosing in either science or social studies content area, identify literacy strategies that are already included, modify the lesson plan to include additional or missing strategies, and analyze the lesson plan for culturally and historically responsiveness.
You may work with partner on this assignment.
Identify a lesson plan in science or social studies content area. It is ideal, but not required, to use lesson plans from different grade levels. The lesson plans can be lesson you developed, observed or obtained from some other source.
Using the lesson plan checklist, analyze the lesson plan for alignment and to ensure all components of a lesson plan are included. Then review the lesson plan looking for literacy strategies that are already included. Highlight those strategies. After analyzing and identifying strategies that are already part of the lesson, modify it to include additional strategies and other strategies that could also work within the lesson and support all learners.
Using the equity framework for culturally and historically responsive literacy analyze the lesson plan. Submit the lesson plan with the highlighted strategies, the completed checklist, a list of the additional strategies along with a brief explanation as to why you would include them and the response to Hold Muhammad’s question.
