Sports marketing
I had desired to be a sports marketer for as long as I had known sports, even before I realized the significance of such games. Throughout my study life, I have worked towards enhancing my organizational and planning skills. However, studying sports marketing has taught me the importance of paying detailed attention to the needs of players. For instance, I realize players must consume a specific diet to achieve their goals. Hence, as a sports marketer and organizer, I must be aware of such details as part of preparation and readiness. I believe this is critical as one job description may differ from one organization to another (Ajeigbe, 130). In one organization, my sole responsibility may be to market the event, and in another one, an organization may use my marketing skills to advertise for job vacancies. Either way, I would be glad to promote my organization to achieve its goals.
Furthermore, times are changing, and it’s possible that the skills requirements for sports marketing may differ within the next five years. Generally, I see myself working with NFL players and or NBA players. I want to run and organize sports events such as game day operations. I will ensure the players are on time. I will take it as a personal responsibility to organize the team’s schedule in a manner that gives them room to arrive at the playground at the required time. Fetchko et al. suggest that creating a schedule with a time allowance without necessarily informing the players can help team leaders effectively manage time on their behalf (56). This is because giving them an exact time may cause delays if one or more players arrive late. After all, unplanned challenges can occur. One may end up arriving late due to a lack of transport means.
On the other side, I would also ensure the cheerleaders are where they need to be. Ajeigbe argues that with technological advancements, planning such events has become more accessible through social media platforms, thus making it possible for me to advertise the event through Facebook, Instagram, and even Twitter (135). Through such platforms, I can get a chance to air out the requirements of the cheerleaders. For instance, I can utilize the opportunity to highlight where they should be sited during the event. I can also inform them of the dos and don’ts before, during, and after the event. For instance, if a player gets injured for some reason, the cheerleaders may not be allowed into the field whether or not they are family members (Fetchko et al., 75). It is important to highlight such details so that no individual becomes confused when such an accident occurs. Marketing via social media platforms is another marking; they help run celebrities’ profiles on Instagram, Twitter, and more.
In five years, I will be 25years. I hope to be living in my own home, somewhere located with the sports team that I end up working for, hopefully, the San Francisco 49ers. They have been my favorite team since I was a little girl. And I’ve been a huge fan since. I see myself living with my husky in a 1 story house with ample land, a big pool, a big backyard, and a gym. I love working out and staying fit and healthy; this explains why I desire to work in a field that promotes good health and body fitness. I believe that working for such a team; I will be naturally challenged to keep my body in shape, not for the sake of society but health benefits. While I aspire to have a happy family one day, I would like to venture into this career in a manner that I influence my family positively. I would be happy if my way of working encouraged them to realize the benefits of sporting activities or personal workouts at the gym. In other words, I would like my line of work to persuade them to make personal choices toward promoting their well-being.
Generally, I desire to work in sports marketing and utilize the adverse skills I have gathered over the years, including excellent organizational and attention to detail, problem-solving skills, strong communication, teamwork and negotiation skills, and my passion for sports. I believe there is no better profession than providing services in a field one is passionate about. I look forward to working with NFL or NBA players.
