This assignment requires writing a 1500 to 3000 word essay on a disease associated with cardiopulmonary anatomy, with a central theme of the harmful effects of smoking and its link to emphysema. This assignment requires the student to analyze and compare two scientific articles related to a specific topic.

Individual students will write an essay on a disease associated with cardiopulmonary anatomy. Although students may choose their own topics, they must develop the essay to inform and educate. The essay must be unified with a major point that the student wants to get across (central theme). Supporting information can be cited from scientific journals, textbooks, and/or reference books. Wikipedia is not a valid reference and copying a sentence or paragraph will not be accepted even if cited. If an electronic article is referenced, the author’s name, company, e-mail address/contact information, and url must be included. The essay must be 1500 to 3000 words (6 to 10 pages), typed, 12 point font, Times New Roman Style font, double spaced, and 0.75” side margins with 1” top and bottom margins. There must be a bibliography page at the end that is not included in the word count. Cite references in the APA (American Psychological Association) format. The disease topic must be presented in a format that is organized, informative, and related to the field of cardiopulmonary science. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) software, such as ChatGTP or other related software is strictly prohibited in compiling the essay and is considered cheating on this assignment.
Central Theme of Essay: Smoking is harmful to individuals and can lead to emphysema.
