Template for Assessment 2

Template for Assessment 2

Writing a proposal is not the same as writing an essay. Instead, you are aiming to communicate specific information relating to the headings and/or subheadings. These headings and subheadings have been listed below, along with a description of the kinds of information about which you should write. When writing these sections try to ensure that you provide enough information that the reader feels confident that you are doing a project which answers an important research question and that the method and analysis will allow you to answer this.

Please note that this document should be written in a way that it can be understood by a person who is intelligent but is not an expert in your research area.

Project title
The title should grab the readers attention and give them an understanding of what the project is about. Try to avoid using complex language in the title as it should be something that is easily accessible by all readers, even those who do not have an understanding of your research area.

Project summary
Provide a summary of the aims (what you hope to achieve with this project), the specific research question, and the significance of the project (why it is important and how it adds to our current knowledge of the topic area).

Data analysis
This is a very important section, and should include detail relating to:

The data that will be collected – what kind of data is it?

What analysis you will use and, where applicable, how this can answer your research question(s). This can include analysis to describe your participants and inferential statistics to answer your specific question(s)

As such, this section will clearly articulate how you will use all the data you collect and how it will answer the research question.

Limitations and Future Research
Identify any potential limitations to the research and discuss future research ideas.
