A2 Presentation and Reflection: individual in-class presentation of 5 minutes, and

submission of a written reflection of 300 to 500 words. (30%)

*Assessment tasks will test you on what we are studying in the course. You will struggle

to pass if you have not consistently engaged with lectures, tutorials, and readings.

For tutorials from Week 5 through to Week 10, three to five students will be scheduled

each week for their individual Presentation and Reflection assessments. This is NOT a

group assessment, and you are NOT being asked to work in collaboration.

For your Presentation, your task is to introduce and discuss something you find

thought-provoking and conceptually interesting which is drawn from the week’s topic

and readings.

5 minutes is not a lot of time, so find a conceptual point or connection to discuss, a

debate to opine upon, an issue or argument to analyse, an open question to answer, or

a specific passage from one of the readings to unpack, which you think can show off

your critical/creative thinking skills.

It is up to you whether or not you wish to use a Presentation slide deck or deliver an

entirely verbal presentation. If you opt to use a slide deck—you can have a maximum of

5 slides only; this should be supplied to your tutor at latest by the start of the tutorial.

Here is one presentation resource which may be useful.

You will have 24 hours, as calculated from your tutorial start-time, to submit your

written reflection online via the course Moodle.

The written reflection should comprise of three sections; it is up to you how you wish to

allocate the word count.

Section A: What do you think you did well, and which aspects do you think can be

improved

Section B: What do you think are your strengths and weaknesses as a presenter; what

kind of presenter are you

Section C: Which was your favourite of the other presentations OR which do you think

was the weakest of the other presentations (your tutor will keep this confidential); why

(what can you learn from it)
