Destination Competition
Tourism is a crucial part of many countries’ economies, it serves the best way to attain foreign income and at the same time develop a country’s status. Hawaii has been a tourist attraction site for years, and it continues to be a tourism destination. The same applies to Guam, which has been receiving tourists regardless of the fact that people expect it to receive fewer tourists than it does (Dawes, Romaniuk, & Mansfield, 2009). Tourists are often attracted to a place because of its location, landscapes, scenery, or customs among other things. Tourists want to go to a place with breathtaking sites, a serene environment, and friendly people.
Guam’s tourism business has full-fledged over the recent past, and the island is expected to keep getting a higher number of tourists (Daleno, 2016). Both Hawaii and Guam share a high number of tourists than expected, if these two islands decided to become a combined tourist destination, they would be flocking with tourists. However, they are separate islands, but are on both the Pacific Ocean and they are both linked with the United States (Dawes, Romaniuk, & Mansfield, 2009). Guam and Hawaii are nearby, and they behold sites and sceneries that are appreciated by many. The prospects promise a rise in tourism over the years for both countries, with new countries such as Russia finding a good destination in Guam (Ruane, 2012-2013). Therefore, these two nations have promising prospects and there patterns changes will be in their favor in the long term.
The differences in these two are that Hawaii is a worldwide name that is mentioned in almost every part of the continent while Guam is unknown to many. Therefore, if the two were advertised as a single unit, Guam would be the more benefitting party because it would raise its name. Some people regard to Guam as a territory and Hawaii as a state (Dawes, Romaniuk, & Mansfield, 2009). Marketing is the most crucial part in the advertising business, and thus Hawaii and Guam would have to do their marketing differently to make their destinations the ultimate destinations. They can do this by showing off landscapes and breathtaking sceneries while also encompassing some of their lovely traditions and customs. In the end, people will plan to visit the one place that manages to give them a reason to take a vacation.
