National governments are increasingly identifying the
construction industry as a key enabler in the delivery of
national carbon emission targets and the broader
principles of sustainable development. Within the UK,
the Government views sustainable construction as an
opportunity for growth in the UK construction industry
as it seeks to advance new markets across the globe.
However, these calls have been questioned by many
who question whether enough is being done to
overcome the barriers to delivering sustainable
construction. In this blog, you are being asked to
consider the status and future for sustainable
construction in the context of your own country. If you
find there are many other students providing a
contribution about the same country, try to consider
how the situation is in relation to your region of the
country with a view to making your contribution more

Identify and explore the key barriers which can be
argued to be restricting progress of delivering
sustainable construction

placed your country is to adopt sustainable
construction and become a regional leader in its
adoption

referenced using the HARVARD Style. You can support
your posts with pictures if you feel it is relevant as the
functionality is provided. You are also required to
comment on posts (entries) by others from the class
using the comments function at the bottom of their
post. It would also be expected that you would
contribute also to your comments provided to your
own post (i.e. reply to others). There is no restriction
on how much you should write as a comment, but
would advise that it covers more than 3-4 sentences
and is evidence based. The focus in the marking is on
your contribution but more through the quality of this
rather than the sheer volume of it. You are required to
provide a minimum of three comments across the
