Based on the primary source The Muddle by Sana Krasikov, which is related to Ukraine’s conflict with Russia, establish how others have interpreted it by engaging with secondary sources (these could be journalistic, scholarly, or literary), enter into a conversation with those secondary sources, and advance your own thesis and interpretation that adds something new and complex. Your paper must include a thesis and motive and should reference at least five credible and well-regarded secondary sources.
So there should be a total of at least six sources used. The primary source the Muddle is the first and then the other 5 in the form of secondary sources. Attached is the a downloadable text of the Fiction story The Muddle by Sana Krasikov which is in the New Yorker
Also attached is a writing Lexicon, which defines writing terms and will help guide writing the paper. It should answer any questions that you have from the main prompt such as what is meant by a secondary or primary source
Length/Format: 5-6pp. (1” margins [on all sides], Times New Roman, double-spaced); MLA citation style (include a Works Cited). The paper should be at least 1350 words or 5 pages
Rubric (how I will evaluate your paper):
your essay engages with a primary source; you say something new about it in your analysis
your essay has a clear thesis statement and a motive in the introductory paragraph (see Writing Lexicon)
you have identified and cited at least 5 high-quality secondary sources
you have entered into conversation with secondary sources in a way that enhances your own analysis of the primary source
you observe appropriate grammar, spelling, punctuation, and citation format (MLA)
