These oversight boards still exist in many states, but most have lost their influence over time. Currently, lawsuits and judicial oversight have become more common as a means of holding correctional systems accountable for their practices. What do you think is the most effective means of controlling the corrections systems and holding them accountable, legislation or litigation? Explain your position.
