Directions: Essay
External sources are not to be used. Only posted course materials are to be used for this essay.
Located in Mod 4 – HERE – students will read the Letters of Seneca (sometimes called the epistles – “epistle” is another word for letter). Identify three letters that speak to you, personally. In your reflection, explain what Seneca is saying and why the letter could just have easily been written to you.

This essay will total no less than 600 words.
Failure to adhere to the following directions will result in a 0.
Submit the essay where designated. Essays submitted via attachments and email will not be accepted. Essays must be submitted on Canvas in a text box (designated in the modules):
Students should formulate their essay in a word doc and then copy and paste it into the text box.
Click “Submit Assignment” to the right of the screen – which will open the text box – to submit your essay.
Click “Resubmit Assignment” to the right of the screen to resubmit your essay, if necessary
External sources are not to be used. Any essay of 599 words or less will not be accepted and a 0 will be issued. Partial credit is for content only. Headers and titles are neither needed nor desired and will not be included in the word count. Drafts will be accepted if submitted in a reasonable time frame.
Because external sources are not to be used, MLA citations are not required or desired. However, an acceptable format is required. For example, submitting a single block of text is not acceptable. Paragraphs and other basic formatting is required. College level writing is required (spelling, grammar, etc.).
NOTE: When a text box will not permit a traditional paragraph, we use a space instead. As such, to create a paragraph, we use the “enter” key instead of the tab key.
External sources are not to be used and do not copy and paste any words other than your own – either will result in a 0.
The purpose of this exercise is to provide an opportunity for the student to demonstrate that they have, not only read, but fully comprehend the material. Quotes are acceptable but should always be kept to a minimum (this is true of any essay or paper).
The essay may be resubmitted as often as necessary until the due date. Late submissions will not be accepted.
Note Well: There is no rubric for this assignment. Rubrics are part of the continuing effort to ensure students think as little as possible. Students should be aware that, at universities, most professors do not use them.
TO REITERATE: The following will result in a 0 for essays:

• Using materials other than those posted here.
• Copy and pasting words other than your own.
• Failing to submit an appropriately formatted essay.
• Entirely incorrect answer.
• Any essay of 599 words or less will not be accepted and a 0 will be issued
