Having a comprehensive knowledge of how our bodies maintain a state of homeostasis when under stress guides the nurse when attempting to provide competent nursing care. Understanding the body’s regulatory mechanisms such as the chemical buffers, respiratory buffers, and renal buffers ensures that the nurse is aware of WHY we are completing specific nursing interventions for each acid base imbalance.
Tasks
1. Complete the Chart attached in the files section of this order, providing an ABG result that would indicate the imbalance, causes of the condition(s), and client presentations related to the imbalance(s).
2. Fill in appropriate nursing care for the acid/base imbalance(s).
