This assignment requires the student to reflect on how their perspective on the environment and human impact has changed after taking the course.

This assignment is pretty straightforward.  It is another single-post assignment; no need to comment on other student’s posts (unless, of course, you want to). In week’s post describe how you look at the environment (or perhaps, the world) after having taken the course.  Do you see things differently?  If so – how? Do you have a better appreciation of how humans’ activities affect the environment – and how they are affected by the environment? Do you see how humans’ activities often reflect (or take the place of) natural services – especially when we’ve modified the natural environment, and how our systems mirror ‘natural’ systems (especially with respect to material cycling and energy flows)? Do you have a better sense of the myriad things that must be considered in establishing environmental policies?  Do you have a better feel for the consequences of our actions on the sustainability of the earth – and (hopefully) have a better feeling for what we can do to minimize (or at least, reduce) our adverse effects on the earth? Don’t simply answer this list of questions – they are merely presented to get you started in your consideration all that you’ve learned this semester.  Certainly there are other things to talk about – things that you now appreciate that (perhaps) you didn’t before taking the class.
