DSWSH MC 3 – SECURITY PLANNING & DESIGN
INDIVIDUAL PROJECT ASSIGNMENT

1. This project is an individual assignment.
2. Students are assigned to provide security design recommendations for a Financial company’s new 6-storey main office building located at Ang Mo Kio Central.

3. A total of 2 sessions have been allocated for this individual project assignment. In the 1st session, students will be briefed on the project requirements and required to provide an outline of the approach and concept of protection for the new main office building. A 2nd session on 24 Jan 24 (Wednesday) is allocated to provide an opportunity for students to clarify any
points they may have encountered while preparing for the project submission.

4. A written report submission of a minimum of 2500 words is required. The submission date is on 31st Jan 24 (Wednesday) by 2359hrs.
(Note: Marks will be deducted for late submission).

5. A project assignment is upon 100 marks (weightage is 50%) as part of overall assessment of this subject.

6. The Architect has designed the following measures for the new office building at Ang Mo Kio Central with adjacent areas surrounded by office blocks (6-7 storeys), HDB flats (6 storeys) and vegetations:
a. There is perimeter welded mesh fence line with a vehicular (steel sliding gate) and staff entrance (full height turnstile) provided for this facility.
b. The building is designed with fixed glass façade.
c. There is one main entrance into the building and 2 fire escape

d. A guard house is proposed next to the main entrance gate.
e. The Visitor management system is proposed at the Main Building Reception Counter.
f. The office blocks and HDB flats are located 3m away from the new
Financial building fence line. External vegetation is next to the perimeter fence line.
g. The space allocation for the new main office building is as follow:
i. 1 st Storey – Main Lobby, Lift (2 nos) lobby, Reception Counter,
Security Control Room & Meeting rooms (2nos), Mail room Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) rooms and M&E and security risers.
ii. 2 nd Storey – Finance Department (office area) consisting of Confidential Information Storage room, M&E and security risers and pantry
iii. 3 rd Storey – Administrative Department (office area), consisting of Mail Sorting room, Confidential Document Storage room, M&E and security risers and pantry
iv. 4 th Storey – HR Department (office area), consisting of Document Compactus Room, M&E and security risers and pantry
v. 5 th Storey – Server room consisting for racks (4 nos) openable
front and back, Strong room & Vault room and M&E and security risers.
vi. 6 th Storey – Senior Management Offices, Board & Function
rooms and M&E and security risers.
vii. Lift landing at each floor is an enclosed area, access control to be recommended.
