The assessment tasks for ICTICT614 Identify and implement business innovation are outlined in the assessment plan below. These tasks have been designed to help you demonstrate the skills and knowledge that you have learnt during your course.
Please ensure that you read the instructions provided with these tasks carefully. You should also follow the advice provided in the IT Works Student User Guide. The Student User Guide provides important information for you relating to completing assessment successfully.
Assessment for this unit
ICTICT614 Identify and implement business innovation describes the skills and knowledge required to analyse traditional business processes to identify and implement business opportunities for innovation and reform.
For students to be assessed as competent, they must successfully complete two assessment tasks and upload with the coversheet/s completed and signed:
Assessment Task 1: Knowledge questions – Students must answer all questions correctly.
Assessment Task 2: Project – Students must work through a range of activities and complete a project portfolio.

Describe – when a question asks you to describe something, you should state the most noticeable qualities or features. Generally, you are expected to write a response two or three sentences long.
Evaluate – when a question asks you to evaluate something, you should put forward
arguments for and against something. Generally, you are expected to write a response one or two paragraphs long.
Examine – when a question asks you to examine something, this is similar to “analyse”, where you should provide a detailed response with key points and features and provide critical analysis. Generally, you are expected to write a response one or two paragraphs long.
Explain – when a question asks you to explain something, you should make clear how or why something happened or the way it is. Generally, you are expected to write a response two or three sentences long.
Identify – when a question asks you to identify something, this means that you are asked to briefly describe the required information. Generally, you are expected to write a response two or three sentences long.
List – when a question asks you to list something, this means that you are asked to briefly state information in a list format.
Outline – when a question asks you to outline something, this means giving only the main points, generally, you are expected to write a response a few sentences long.

This project is about identifying and implementing innovative business opportunities in an ICT environment.
This project is based on the case study provided in the Simulation Pack.
Vocational education and training is all about gaining and developing practical skills that are industry relevant and that can help you to succeed in your chosen career. For this reason, basing your project on real relationships with classmates or work colleagues will mean that you are applying your knowledge and skills in a relevant, practical and meaningful way!
You will be collecting evidence for this unit in a Project Portfolio. The steps you need to take are outlined below.
Preparation
From the case study business, all of the documents are included in the Simulation Pack.
Complete Page 4 of your Project Portfolio for this unit.
Read through the requirements of Section 1 and 2 of your Project Portfolio which include detailed guidance relevant to all the assessment activities.
Innovation opportunities
You are now to complete Section 1 of your Project Portfolio. To do this you are to:
Analyse and report on information about the business and its customers, as well its relationships, processes and methods of doing business.
Based on your analysis, develop potential innovation and reform strategies.
Assess strategies against organisation goals and objectives for their alignment.
Conduct a cost benefit-analysis of potential strategies identified.
Evaluate the degree of likely change and associated ramifications.
Conduct a risk management analysis and develop a contingency plan.
Determine and report on the most appropriate strategies for innovation and reform based on work completed.
Complete Section 1 of your Project Portfolio.
Submit your Portfolio to your assessor.
Innovation implementation
Assume that to implement innovation you are required to present your ideas for innovation to management (a group of fellow students and your assessor). Prepare a presentation that summarises your work from the previous activity and outlines the online technologies that will be implemented, as well as the plan for implementation including how the innovation will be integrated into existing operations.
Prepare a presentation in a format of your choice such as PowerPoint. Work on Section 2 of your Project Portfolio. Your presentation should be for approximately 15 minutes.
Then at the date and time advised by your assessor, present your work. This will be a group of students organised by your assessor.

This meeting can either be viewed in person by your assessor or you may like to video record the session for your assessor to watch later. Your assessor can provide you with more details at this step. Make sure you follow the instructions above and meet the timeframes allocated.
At the meeting you will also be provided with feedback on the extent to which your audience believe your plans meet the outcomes required. You will document this feedback in your Portfolio following the meeting and respond to it. Review the instructions in your Portfolio.
