I am a first-year student in international medical school and I was recommended for dismissal because of failure to complete my clinical segment within the maximum allotted time. School policy says students must complete coursework and meet graduation requirements within three years because it does not reflect well for future residency.
I took a leave absence at first term due to father’s sickness.
For the second term, I repeated a term due to academic setback.
I was trying to take a leave of absence for my third term because of my sickness due to Long COVID with supported medical documentation but it was rejected because I met my timeline as I took leave of absence in Term 1 and then repeat the course in Term 2.
So, I have given option to appeal and I have to write a well written document that indicates all the reasons that have led to these delays and how it will be resolved. I was told it should be clear and concise without excuses but contain every step that I have taken to get myself into a position for success.
