Review your organization’s blog and social media presence
Research competitors’ blogs. Analyze the blogs to
get a sense of what works and what doesn’t. What are the strengths and
weaknesses of the blogs? Remember, you want inspiration; you do not want
to repeat or steal their ideas.
Develop the first draft of a series of 3 related blog posts and one social media post pointing to the blog, which are relevant to your primary organization and the audience you’re trying to attract to the blog series.
Include attribution for
sources of all information from other writers and for all images used.
Use APA Style for a references list in a separate Addendum document.

To review comparisons to your primary organization’s and its competitor organizations’ web and social media presence.
To create an original, related
series of blog posts and a related social media post consistent with
your primary organization’s purpose, writing quality and needs of their
intended audience.
To apply editing, chunking and layering skills to new, original posts for blogs and social media
To incorporate layout and design features typical of blogs and social media.
3 Blog Posts
What big topic will align with the new
content strategy you have been developing for the organization? We are
looking for related sub-topics which would be posted over a designated
period of time, possibly in alignment with the organization’s event, the
season, or a PR idea. For example, for the History.com website, with
the early summer topic of “Americans on Vacation,” three related
sub-topics could be “Origins of U.S National Holidays,” “How Americans
Have Vacationed” and “How Route 66 Changed America.”
Each post invites relationship building
and offers offers credible sources. Make each related post have plenty
of scan-ability and a tone and voice consistent with the organization
and needs of the intended audience. Please provide attribution
for sources used in each post in your Addendum, using an APA Style
References list for all posts. Make your Addendum a separate document,
containing the statement of purpose, interactor analysis for the post
(this might be different than the organization), and the TWR in your
final draft.

1 Social Media Post
You will also be creating one social media post related to the blog
series (all three blog posts) for the organization you have chosen. The
topic of the social media post is to direct the intended audience to
the blog series. Consider voice, tone, style, design, scan-ability, etc. Types of social media could include Facebook, Instagram,
Twitter, Google+, etc. Explore any social media sites in which the
organization already has a presence. Check out the competitors’ social
media presence. What works and doesn’t work for your organization’s
presence and/or the competitors’ social media presence? How can you
attract the audience to the blog series and meet their needs?

Blog Series Format-
Format
Use your word processor. Identify each post by including a
descriptive header above teach post. Please identify which social media
is used.
Apply what you have learned about chunking, editing and layering in
your posts. Embed multimedia, include images, headings, etc. Include
the entire blog post, avoid using “Read more…” link.
3 Blog posts: Heading plus minimum 600
words each (3 minute read each), minimum 2 visuals for each blog post,
preferably more, and headings, embedded videos, charts, links, pullout
quotes, etc., to create a highly scan-able post. Include APA Style
references list for all sources from other writers and for all images in
the separate Addendum. Label images, so that the reader can easily
find the source of the image.
1 Social Media post: Heading plus call to action, at least one visual, and link to blog series.
Remember, blog and social media posts are presented in reverse
chronological order. The social media post should provide a call to
action for the entire blog series, so will be posted AFTER the 3rd blog
post.

Build the Addendum
1st Draft Writing Project: write
out the statement of purpose and interactor analysis into your word
processing document. Include this at the end of your assignment after
the References page, in a section at the end called “Addendum.”
Final Draft Writing Project: At the end your final draft document, after the References page, include an Addendum containing:
Statement of purpose
Interactor analysis
Trusted writer review
Guidelines for Analysis:
Use Present Tense: Use
present tense verbs to describe the interactor’s specific
characteristics, for example, “The intended interactor’s age is…” or
“The intended interactor’s attitude is….”
Avoid Generalizations: Please
avoid broad sweeping generalizations “The interactor is anyone age
0-100…” or “The audience is the general public…” or “The interactor
is no specific age…” Your interactor analysis will lose points, and
it’s likely that without a specific audience, your writing will too.
Include Detailed Characteristics: Focus
on specific and detailed characteristics of those interactors the
organization wishes to attract, such as “The intended interactor is
tech-savvy readers, ages 16-35 years old,” or “The intended target
audience is mature, educated adults with an interest in social change.”
